The Band

Karishma

Karishma was introduced to music at a very young age as her mother was lead singer of a popular Asian band in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Her enthusiasm for music was apparent ever since she could speak, and she began keyboard lessons at the tender age of four! However she soon realised that her passion lay in singing, and began vocal lessons at the age of ten. As well as appearing in a number of music videos, Karishma has been involved in numerous live performances including the unveiling of ‘The Millennium Song’ hosted by the Leicester City Council, and she also had the pleasure of supporting Hip-Hop star Mims in Leicester. In 2006 Karishma was accepted onto the ‘Performing Musician’ course at Access to Music where she learnt many skills, but most importantly, where she met the rest of Mas Fina! She has had the opportunity to play at a number of great venues with the band, including the Barfly, Birmingham, and The Phoenix Theatre, Leicester. Since leaving the course, Karishma has been studying Music Business at Birmingham City University and is working hard to take Mas Fina to the highest heights!

Sam

Sam discovered his musical side at the age of 15 after being given his first guitar. His grandad led him down the British Blues path before he joined his first band. Sam played his first gig at the age of 16 and was told that this was something he could do as a career! He warmed to this idea and with some guidance, auditioned and got accepted for the Access To Music course in Leicester. The course opened a lot of doors for Sam, this is where he discovered the bass guitar with lessons from Andy Robertson and guitar lessons from Brian Thompson. This is also where Mas Fina began, with regional performances and other great opportunities provided by the course, along with music industry lectures and guidance from the tutors. Since leaving the course in 2008, Sam is heading down the right path to become a professional musician, working as a session guitarist/bassist, guitar/bass/vocal teacher and performing nationally with the covers band "Rhythm & Groove". Any spare time is spent improving his own skills as a musician, Writing music, studying the music industry and pushing Mas Fina onto bigger and better things!

Liam

Liam was given his first guitar at the age of 2, though it wasn’t until his 9th birthday that he started to take it seriously. Having spent most of his childhood working out Led Zeppelin tunes and playing in school bands, at 16 he started taking guitar lessons from guitar teacher Brian Thompson on an Access To Music course in Leicester. This is where he started working with a lot of different bands covering a wide range of musical styles. During this time Liam worked with local bands such as Skankadelia, My Dads Bigger Than Your Dad, Blueink and Refuge. Towards the end of 2008 Liam dropped a lot of this work to focus more on Mas Fina. Aside from the band, Liam is a guitar teacher and works alongside Mas Fina band mate Sam in the Pop/R&B Covers Band "Rhythm & Groove". He's also a session Musician.

Stefan

Stefan started his music career playing the side drum in a highland band at just 13 years old. This allowed him to perform to crowds of 10,000+ all over the UK and Europe. At 16 his passion for the drums grew and he got his first full drum kit. Later that year he joined his first band 'Sunflower'. After sunflower went their separate ways, he took himself on the road gigging up and down the country in covers bands until the age of 22 when he joined the band 'Sons Of Itto'. Although being the eldest and most experienced band member, while Sons Of Itto were building a reputable following around the local scene, Stefan decided to take his playing to a new level. He took himself out of work and into college to study all aspects of music to a professional level. This is where he met the rest of the band members and formed Mas Fina. Stefan dropped out of Sons of Itto to play full time for Mas Fina although he still plays for local indie/rock covers band 'Fire and Skill'.
